A look back at our 2024 projects

Now that we’ve reached the end of 2024, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on the last 12 months and what projects we have carried out. Thanks to the hard work and expertise of our team, we’ve had another busy year, with between five and seven projects running every week throughout 2024. Of those, half were usually larger projects and we were working on sites both local to us in the south and west of England, and further afield. Those numbers are an excellent reminder of the work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure we’re able to work to the highest of standards on all projects. That means being able to allocate the right people to each project at every stage, have the right machinery and equipment available and keep customers and project managers in the loop.
We’re as committed as ever to recycling as much as we can and have calculated how much we’ve recycled in 2024. Our sums show that we’ve managed to recycle over 1,100 tonnes of waste in the last 12 months, preventing it from ending up in landfill. We’ve also recycled over 1,000 tonnes of stripout material, again making sure that only items that truly have no further use end up being thrown away and keeping anything of use for recycling. It’s a record we’re really proud of as both our business and our customers look to be more environmentally conscious going forward.
Those of you who have read our blog back in September – Why David Horton is the top choice for asbestos removal in the South West – will know that we’re proud to have built a solid reputation as the go-to experts for handling asbestos. Our team has decades of experience in assessing sites for asbestos and carrying out the safe removal of this hazardous material. In the past year demand for this service has been higher than ever. In 2024, we carried out 100 asbestos surveys, nearly two every single week, helping the public, builders, tradesmen and contractors stay safe during demolition and stripout.
With 2025 underway, we’re already busy working on projects and planning for the spring and summer, as longer days and better weather (we hope) mean things tend to get even busier. If you’re looking for experienced demolition and groundworks contractors this year, make sure you get in touch. With experience working in urban, suburban and rural locations, including on listed buildings and sensitive sites, our team is ready to help! Just get in touch here. And if you were one of our customers in 2024, thank you for choosing to work with David Horton Contractors. We’re proud to be trusted to carry out demolition, stripout and groundwork for customers all around the United Kingdom, and love seeing how their vision for the site can take shape once we’ve finished.
